Metro Railway invites applications for the recruitment of candidates under the Cultural Quota for the year 2024-25. Application Fees

The application fees are as follows:

  • General Candidates: Rs. 500/- (Refundable Rs. 400/- if the candidate appears for the written examination)
  • SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PWD/Women/Minorities/Economically Backward Classes: Rs. 250/- (Refundable if the candidate appears for the written examination)

Payment Mode:

  • The application fee must be paid through IPO (Indian Postal Order) or Bank Draft drawn in favor of FA & CAO, Metro Railway, Kolkata.
  • Cash, Cheque, Money Orders, or Central Recruitment Fee Stamps will not be accepted.

Qualifications

1. Essential Educational Qualifications

  • For Tabla:
    • Passed 12th or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
    • For SC/ST/ESM/PWD candidates, and those with higher qualifications, the 50% mark is not insisted upon.
  • For Synthesizer:
    • Passed 10th from a recognized board and possesses an ITI/National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) approved by NCVT. Note that a Diploma in Engineering is not considered as a higher qualification.

2. Cultural Qualifications

  • For Tabla:
    • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Tabla from a Government-recognized University/Institute.
  • For Synthesizer:
    • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Harmonium/Synthesizer from a Government-recognized University/Institute.

3. Desirable Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, candidates with the following will be given preference:

  • Experience in the relevant cultural discipline and performance on All India Radio/Doordarshan.
  • Awards/Prizes won at the national level in the relevant cultural discipline.

Age Limit

The age of candidates will be determined as of January 1, 2025, and the following age criteria will apply:

  • General (UR): 18 to 30 years
  • OBC: Relaxation of up to 3 years, making the upper limit 33 years.
  • SC/ST: Relaxation of up to 5 years, making the upper limit 35 years.

Age Relaxation for Special Categories:

  • Serving Railway Employees: Relaxation up to 40 years for UR, 43 years for OBC, and 45 years for SC/ST candidates.
  • Widows/Divorced Women/Women Judicially Separated (not re-married): Maximum age of 35 years for UR, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwBD): Relaxation of up to 10 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation based on the length of service in the Defence Forces, plus an additional 3 years.
  • Staff of Quasi-Administrative Organizations: Relaxation of up to 5 years or the duration of service, whichever is less.

Pay Scale

Candidates selected for the posts will be placed in Group ‘C’ under Pay Level-2 as per the 7th Pay Commission. The grade pay for these positions is Rs. 1900/-.

Selection Criteria

The selection of candidates will be based on their overall performance in the written test and the practical demonstration. The final merit list will be compiled based on the cumulative score obtained in both stages. Afterward, candidates who are selected will be called for medical examinations and document verification. Only those who pass all stages will be appointed to the respective posts.
